Consulting: providing clear pathways
We work closely with architectural practices and consultants along with SAP and code assessors, and are dedicated to providing new product insights and support in the design and specification of the most reliable commercial solar PV power plants using leading edge technology.
We are the experts, from technical complexities to environmental impacts and commercial considerations.
Solar PV and sustainability: making sense of complexity
Even for industry insiders, specifying solar PV plant can be a complex business.
Part of our role is to help building companies, construction firms, architects, engineers, contractors, facilities managers and other professionals to more fully understand photovoltaics—how the technology works, best practice in deployment, and gaining the optimum results.
Our knowledge and insights extend far beyond technology into all other relevant areas, including but not restricted to:
- The Renewable Energy Strategy that defines how the UK can increase the amount of energy it gets from renewables to 15% by 2020
- BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) — the leading and most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings
- Energy certificates - Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) measure the energy performance of a building based on its design, Display Energy Certificates (DECs) measure a building’s actual performance based on metered energy usage and must be displayed publicly
- Building Regulations Part L 2006 (Part J in Scotland and F in Northern Ireland)
- Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) – from 2010 organisations that used more than 6,000 MWh of electricity in 2008 must purchase and surrender allowances each year to cover CO2 emissions.
- CERT – the Carbon Emission Reduction Target
- EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) that puts a cap on the carbon dioxide emitted by business and creates a market and price for carbon allowances
- The Carbon Trust Standard (Carbon Trust)
- The Code for Sustainable Homes national standard
